✗ Throughout the 80s, funding through ICF-MR became available for more people who required a lot of support out of institutions. Laws were passed on behalf of people with disabilities.

✗ National Association of Protection and Advocacy Systems was created, today is known as the National Disability Rights Network.

✗ OSARR (Ocean State Association for Residential Resources) was formed. OSARR is known today as CPNRI (Community Provider Network of RI).
